PEDESTAL OF BUDDHA STONE LOTUS FLOWER IN HƯƠNG LÃNG PAGODA

The lotus stone Buddha statue stand is an artifact in Hương Lãng Pagoda (Viên Giác Tự) in Chùa village, Minh Hải commune, Văn Lâm district, Hưng Yên province. The pagoda was built by Queen Mother Ỷ Lan during the Lý Dynasty in 1115.

The stone platform is divided into three basic floors, closely linked together to form a complete lotus stone pedestal.

The base is made of many rectangular stones that fit closely together.

The body is lion-shaped (Mr. Thunder) in the form of a circular statue including the head and the body. The lion's front legs are V-shaped, with its sharp nails leaning on two spheres, and its hind legs are bent.

The top part (lotus) is made of a blue stone forming a rectangular plane. 4 layers of the upturned lotus petals by the motif of the full lotus are carved around the surface of the stone pedestal.

The lotus stone pedestal of Hương Lãng pagoda is still intact. It is a unique original artifact, typical of the Lý artistry and recognized as a National Treasure
